It would seem that commom sense has prevailed, thanks to the intervention of the local taxi association, the driver has been reinstated after certain inconsistencies between the managing agent (station Taxis) and his story were pointed out to GNER we are told now that the next person if caught will not be allowed back, this was a gesture of goodwill and a one off.
