Yep true to form someone disagrees with 'T' and the insults start.

What T. doesn't realise is that PH firms earn far more out of freephones that the freephones earn out of them.

If a firm gains a freephone for say £10,000 a year, they need take on only two cars to pay for it. In most cases they take on far more than that, so they are quids in.

But I'm afraid the dino view from T. hackney brain doesn't work like that. [-(

In a competitive market you will always find someone wanting to 'control' access to work.

I know folks who pay in the region of 20k a year for a certain supermarket. This may sound mad to many of us but it works for them. They reckon they get 30 extra drivers on their circuit because they have it. That is 150K extra income.

In our town we have had two main companies for many many years and we have a 'gentlemens' agreement that we both pay £100 a year plus call charges and have two phones side by side. That way, if we say 30 minutes wait they may say 10 minutes and vice versa. This keeps the punters happy, the supermarket happy, our pockets fuller and the middle man poorer.

Of course a cowboy might roll into town and outbid us at anytime but they have to keep the supermarket and the punters happy.

Supermarket work is not profitable but it gives you great infill during non peak hours, so it keeps your vehicles rolling.

No you are doing your job and servicing the public the way the public want to be served.

T. thinks everyone should go to his cab. Times have changed, punters are now king.

Because if the PH didn't have freephones then folks would have to use ranks.

And we don't want that. [-X

ITS ONLY PROFITABLE TO THE SALESMAN FROM FREE-PHONE. IF YOU GIVE GOOD SERVICE YOU WILL GET THE CALLS ANYWAY. WOULD YOU YOURSELVE USE A SERVICE JUST BECAUSE ITS A FREEPHONE. PUT YOURSELVE IN THE PUNTERS SHOES, WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING YOU ARE A CONSUMER USE THAT THINKING IN YOUR PLANNING.

It wouldnt happen here
The said Company are greedy and used to have the monopoly on everything as they were the biggest firm

now all they do is whinge (squeak in some cases) moan and complain to the council

Most firms who started up independently used to work for them

now its coming to an end!!

theyre all ageing and getting smaller

HAppy days for Gosport!!

Free-phones are fine paying a middleman to go to work ain't. They feed off greed. Get local agreements, PH, Taxis both its our work by right and by the licenses we hold. No third party without any type of license or control should be able to sell you that work.
