So is that a yes or no from JD .................... not that he had to as Dusty had already confirmed what I knew but posted as a question anyway.

The "they both do the same job" was hinted with sarcasm Dusty ............... ffs.

The fact of the matter remains that just because 3 people on here (posting under at least 2 user names each) claim everything is spin and therefore pointless.

The fact remains that UNMET DEMAND is more prevelant in the PRIVATE HIRE SECTOR and it is worthy of note that only TWO PH operators in Gateshead are still recruiting drivers ................. THE REST OF THE PH OPERATIONS HAVE IMPOSED A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF DRIVERS THEY HAVE ON THEIR SYSTEM .................................. this is because of a decline in trade generally and their drivers are complaining of lower takings.

It seems like the same attitude is adopted ................ do what I say not what I do.

So in your ideal taxi world you will have no private hire vehicles, councils will not have the option of letting supply meet demand and they will not be able to issue licenses unless a survey says they can? What other powers would you like taken away from these councilors who the NTA, T&G, GMBU etc all say "know best"?

I take it your not a fan of the sound byte "councils know best"

Any other bright ideas as you formulate policy on the hoof? For instance the requirements of the public or don't they matter?

Regards

JD

Thanks for that input Captain, or is it The Reiver etc etc etc. 8-[

Need I remind you that Mr allo allo said himself that he hadn't given his thesis much thought. #-o

And I assume now that you let Mr Flanagan et al say whatever they want without a substantive response?

Or do you let them have it with "both barrels".

But thanks for the substantive input into the thread. :D

BTW, as a dial-up user I'd be grateful if you'd go easy on the photos, and in any case we don't want the forum turning into a string of messages where there are more photos then text and there's more in the signatures than in the actual messages.

Oh, and the reason I post under a pseudonym is that I prefer to post what I want to say, not what others tell me to :D

Well I haven't got a clue what all this has to do with the points being made, so if you don't mind I'll pass on this one

Well I've always been attracted to a single-tier system myself, but with tough quality control on driver and vehicles, and no need for surveys.

I don't either, so I guess that makes two of us who are confused.
