It has already been said to me that he can no longer be regarded as objective when he appears at councils pushing for deregulation!

It only takes up a single line of the IoL's proposals, and don't forget 75% of the IoL's members don't work in restricted areas.

Are you Ok.?

I also know somebody who was at that meeting, and the expression 'it went down like a lead balloon' was used.

The way I read the proposed new Act it comes across as a wish list of licencing officers who wish to create more red tape, which in turn creates more staff to handle said red tape. Obviously more staff equates to more responsibility. In turn, this leads to a higher grade on the old wage scale.More people employed in licencing equals more members for the National Institute, and more people to be trained equals more revenue for them.

It doesn't really seem to be about the taxi and ph trade at all.

PS I personally think that limos and limo drivers should have their own licencing department, that is national rather than local.

So Mr T you totally disagree with any driver getting his own licence and being able to forge his own destiny.
I bet that person who you know has his head so far up his Harris and is totally against the change that is so badly needed north and South of the border

I'm simply buzzing thanks. Image

And not surprised that the first comment we get from the North West is a pro-quota one. ](*,)

And I'm the anti-quota one, or maybe two if my good friend Mr Button is one. :D

Back to the proposals, as we have a section for quota debates, I think the limo proposals are a good basis for moving forward.

As long as the drivers and the vehicles are checked then let them do what they like and charge what they like.

Of course that is only till type approval kills them all off.

You may be a bit premature here Sussex. There are people who are already working on modifications to new limos in order for them to meet the type approval requirements when they come in.

Once in the last month he has got it wrong IMO. But not in relation to this Draft Taxi Bill.

And let us not forget he is but one of a board of a dozen plus.

I do not know a great deal about the limousine industry. but I do know that expecting companies that have bases across the country,( offices in different citie ). haveing to Licence from one area is ridiculous, a driver from Newcastle being expected to take the knowledge test in Manchester... ridiculous..... and why should a limousine driver have to take a knowledge test at all.... what the councils are trying to implement now is ridiculous.....

But in all fairness it is not the council's fault it is the people from the DFT...
