You may recall the tinted window situation in York, well as testing time approaches we are all watching this space, there are three Hackneys all with blacked out windows which will go through because they were tested before the legislation came in, the one wih a rear tinted window,(all the others have been changed) will not. We have a Private Hire Multi seater which has Curtains inside the windows which he has closed on several occasions but the council are powerless to stop this as there is no legislation to cover curtains, the bottom line is you cannot see through the windows which was the point in the first place, it's a bit like Stinky's cat herding.Not easy to understand

If the council add a condition to the vehicle license that curtains can't be used in Private Hire, then they are far from powerless.

the council have had him in and said they are prepared to do this, but said it would be easier if he just took them out he has said he won't remove them as they are for his safety.

How do curtains help with his safety?

i have tints but i have 3 cam's

what kinda curtains, never seen the vehicle

tautliner curtains

welding curtains

camper van curtains

sun blind UV curtains

or curtains as in vehicle body styling

So if the council bring in a by-law banning the use of curtains, will it be curtains for his curtains.

The ones that go inside a window that you pull across, like you would any normal curtain they are on the telecabs multiseater plate 886 or 868 if you keep your eyes open you will see the vehicle, you seem to notice everything else that goes on.

Are you suggesting something untowards is occuring behind the curtains?

If your that concerned why dont you ask the LA to attach a condition to the licenses?

What I am concerned with is a level playing field, a £20.000 brand new car was failed because of a tinted window and had to have another £1000 spent on replacing them all, yet a two bob shed on wheels takes the p**s with curtains closed and passes with flying colours

I'm still intrigued as to why or how the installation of curtains contributes to his safety.... Any ideas, anyone??

I think people from outside should be able to see what's happening inside, and vice versa.
