I think all those drivers from all those different stations that have had massive increases should complain to the OFT.

If that isn't an abuse of a dominant position, then you have to wonder what is.

I wonder if there isn't a case for an investigation into restriction of competition ? It cannot be in the interests of the consumer to have a situation like that because it will probably impact on fares

 I have never read so much nonsense about the situation at York Station. I have read all the comments and non are based on fact. All are a figment of peoples imagination. I you had the guts to name yourselves you would be facing injunctions. The folowing is fact no shareholder receives a free permit the share holders have to pay up front and cover any losses. Of the figures you are talking about £20665 is vat. In future get the facts correct before you make wild comments.

Keith Hatfield Station Taxis

I always limit my comments to very few words when discussing issues I'm not familiar with and so do many other subscribers on this forum. Perhaps your observations that so much of what has already been said are figments of peoples vivid imaginations and are partly true but it is fairly obvious to any observer that many taxi drivers in York are not very happy with the fact that they are excluded from working the station by those who administer the permits.

We all know Station Taxis are determined to keep the station contract because without it their future survival might be in serious doubt?

Some of the questions I would like answered are purely from a curiosity perspective but perhaps you can advise us what criteria Station Taxis use for issuing permits and are people given the "OPTION" to subscribe to Station Taxis radio system or is it a mandatory requirement?

There have been discussions on here suggesting that obtaining a permit is conditional on joining station taxis can you confirm that?

I'm firmly in the camp that believes no taxi driver should be barred from working a Railway station, whether permits are issued by a trade organisation or otherwise.

It appears the business plan of Station Taxis is based on securing the contract with the Railway station therefore it makes sense that you guys will pay almost any price the station company dictates.

I just wonder how high these permit prices will go in the future before you guys say enough is enough?

In my opinion barrier systems are the best way forward with a recovery charge embedded into the council fare structure but that wouldn't suit Station taxis because it would disenfranchise them from the station altogether.

I hope this clarifies the situation. I can assure you we will have an open policy on this matter.

I don't think VAT is the overriding factor in this permit issue but one factor that does come into play is the fact that Station taxis could not survive without controlling the permits. I suppose station taxis could always prove me wrong by informing the station company that they no longer wish to administer permits?

and now the new dress code at York Stn, bye the way it matches up well with the new City of York vehicle colour [black]

black trousers , black shoes, black pullover, black jacket, oh and black hat if you wear one, shirt to be white, no tie's need to be worn

how morbid, bring out the dead
what a wonderful matching colour scheme
