Taxi Driver Online

I apologise if I'm repeating a topic that has previously been aired.

As Hackney carriages, I was of the impression that we could use bus lanes anywhere in the country where the word 'taxi' was displayed on the appropriate sign and provided the was no other restrictive wording eg, 'local taxis only' or similar. If the word 'taxi' was missing, we could not use the lane.

One of my colleagues is reluctant to accept this argument, in particular as it might apply to us provincial bods using the London bus lanes.

Can anyone point me towards chapter and verse on this, especially if there is any decided case law on this topic.

As far as I'm aware, Taxi's from anywhere are welcomed into our Bus Lanes.
However as with anything TFL touch, I'd check it out first as they tend to make it up as they go along.

Minicabs are not allowed, and now that Boris is in, they won't be for a long time.

Dream on - Mr Griffin has a fighting fund in place to take this to the European Court if neccessary.

You better hope they do get access before anyone realises that a Black Cab or a Private Hire Vehicle with one passenger aboard is not a terribly efficient form of transport. It will dawn on someone in authority soon.

I wish him well, but it will be the Bus companies that will halt his plans, not us.
