The following Early Day Motion has been submitted to the House of Commons. In and of itself it does little other than to raise the awareness of MP's to our plight, which is perhaps worthwhile in and of itself. However it is of far more use if it is done properly and it is the contention of this branch that those really committed to this campaign should approach their local MP to get then to agree to sign this. It should be done in conjunction with a campaign that involves local drivers For example, and this is where a petition can come in useful. something like, We the undersigned call on the local MP (doesn’t matter if they are Tory, Liberal or New Labour) to sign the early day motion in support of the drivers safety campaign etc. Doing a local petition based on getting the local MP to sign the EDM coupled with local press exposure should lead to tens of thousands being enlightened as to the horrific risks we take as drivers.

What's the betting that those who shout loudest on some of the other sites do sweet FA?

EDM 1374

DRIVER SAFETY

22.04.2008

Keen, Alan

That this House notes with real concern the increase in the number of attacks on and murders of professional drivers in the private hire car industry; recognises the important and crucial role of professional and private hire drivers in providing a valuable service across the UK; congratulates the GMB union on raising these important issues; and calls on the Government to examine and promote all proposals to reduce the number of attacks on and murders of taxi drivers.

What you mean the ones that are more concerned about a NALEO letter than things like drivers safety and drivers earning? [-(

I don't take a horrific risk, so I won't be having anything to do with McKenzies trumped up campaign, especially as the man who's leading it celebrates British troops being killed whilst serving their country.

Mind you, it's what the majority of the taxi trade has come to expect from a two socialists who represent about 2% of the National Taxi trade.

Ask Livingstone, he's looking for a new job.
