Thanks for that, Skippy, I'll give them a ring and see if they can sort something out. Just been reading a few reviews of the Ceed and they're all very good, so looks like I'll be having one depending on the test drive. 8)

Hi Skippy,

I haven't had one yet. Being a newbie driver, I'm struggling to get the money together to get started to be honest. Usual thing, every time I get near to having the money, something needs paying.

My uncle died a few months ago and his insurance is due to come through to my nan in the next few days. She said she'll lend me the money to get going when it comes, so I'll have a look at the Kia then.

After speaking to Kia customer services, they have confirmed this warranty, you could do a hypothetical 300,000 miles in the first 3 years then 100,000 in the next 4 with the CEED SW

Quote:
Warranty
Warranty7 years or 100,000 miles. That's 2,555 days or 4 times round the earth if you're a high mileage driver. Either way, our warranty is better than anything else you'll find from any other manufacturer. It's no wonder Autocar awarded it the 'Idea of the Year'

There are plenty of other reasons to choose the cee'd, but we believe in looking after the long-term interests of our customers. We want you to enjoy worry-free motoring for years to come.

The warranty includes:

3 years/ unlimited mileage full manufacturers warranty
3 -7 years / 100,000 miles full manufacturers warranty
10 years / unlimited mileage manufacturers anti-perforation warranty*
Kia Assist roadside assistance covering mainland Europe as well as in the UK
* Annual bodywork inspection required for which a charge may apply

No matter how much you fall in love with the cee'd, we recognise you may part company at some time. So it's useful to know whatever is left on the warranty is fully transferable to any subsequent owners. Not only does that give them peace of mind, but we think it'll make the cee'd SW just as desirable for future owners as well

Caution when buying Cars for Taxi work.

Kia state they support them being used as taxis.....but, if it is, it has to be logged with KIA UK that it is beeing used as such.

Your warranty is then reduced if used as a Taxi to 60,000.

NOW THEN....KIA UK uses this "TAXI" term with terms and conditions. If you KIA is fitted with a meter, then your warrented mileage is reduced to 60,000 miles, regardless of what the overall warranty states.

If its used as PH....(i.e. no meter) your laughing, 100,000 miles warranty, and in some cases, un-limeted mileage throughout the KIA's factory warranty.

Moral is, before you invest your hard earned in ANY vehicle, check the small print if being used as a "TAXI"

If the log book still has PLG on it the warranty still stands, my dealer told me that one, and they still fix mine when it needs something for free at 130k

If I was buying a Kia then I would print the warranty on their website http://www.kia.co.uk/warrantygeneric.asp and keep it.

It says nothing about taxis on that, and if you presented it to a court saying you bought the car on the basis of the warranty, then Kia will lose.

Else, don't buy one and buy a car that gives you a better warranty in the first place.

I pointed this out to them, but then they throw it back at you, saying "you bought from a franchised dealer, NOT KIA UK"

Clever wording !!! i would have thought a franchised dealer was just an extension of KIA UK. Some times its like playing tennis with them and the dealer.

Dealers fault..........KIA UK fault........dealers fault..........KIA UK fault

I point out, that if your burger bun in Mc donalds is rotten, do you take it back to Mc d's or the bakers that made the bun?

On a whole though, they are not bad cars for the money.

Waranties seem such a waste of time when it comes to hackney carriages. I had a new clutch fitted to my Vectra last December at 139,000 miles. It came with a 12 month or 12,000 mile warrenty. 10,000 miles later it went again. I was told the warrenty does not apply to taxis??? :?

Then take the Franchise dealer to the small claims court, and they will get the money back off Kia, or Kia wont be sold by them anymore.
