Just a note to let you know of the sad death of Mick Pollard. He died in an accident today- I do not know the full details as yet. I believe he posted on here as GA? From memory anyway. RIP.

Sad news indeed.

Mick/GA/Gateshead Angel was one of the pioneers of online taxi forums, but as with myself his interest waned over the years.

We had many a disagreement over the years, but things were (usually!) fairly amicable, and there's no doubt he had the best interests of the trade as a whole at heart, it's just that we disagreed over how to go about things!

Condolences, of course, to his family.

RIP Mick

I thought that name rung a bell, GA, I remember him. We crossed swords on a number of occasions.

A woman I knew up until a few weeks ago was diagnosed with cancer. She felt unwell and went to the doctors, a couple of weeks later she was dead. The last time I saw her, I was walking my old dog, and she was surprised to see he was still going. Life appears to be full of little ironies, and you never know when you coat is on a shoogly peg.  [-o<

My sincerest condolences for Micks family, to be taken before your time...just not right for anyone. If anyone close to him here, respectfully it might be an idea to open a PayPal account and post details here for anyone wishing to give something back from the trade to his family?

That is dreadful news, really dreadful.

Over the last 10 years or so Mick and I have had umpteen rucks on various taxi related websites.

However I met him once and spoke a number of times on the phone to him.

I will miss him, and hope he rests in peace.

I've just learned of the news from Frankie Clarke, I've known Mick for a number of years and we used to meet up on numerous occasions for a chinwag and to try and put things right within the trade.

He will be sadly missed by me and many others within the Taxi trade.

RIP big fella you will be sadly missed.

Just heard the news, and didnt know whether you knew on here or not, and i couldnt go without saying hello.

Hi Sussex, Dusty and maybe a few other that remember me.

One thing i gained from setting up the taxiforums over 11 years ago was the fact that i made a good friend out of Mick, he was the sort of person that if i was having any sort of trouble with anything, he would be there on the end of the phone, and if i really needed to see him he would jump in his car and travel the 300 mile round trip, to see if he could help.

Some people may remember him differently with this being a discussion forums, but in reality anyone that got to know him, realised that this man had a heart as big as a lion and it was made of solid gold.

The next trip i make up to "gods country", next week will be a sad one, but i will pass on the condolences from everyone here.

Alan Foster
