Very interesting that the Scots Exec support the free-market in selling vehicles, but not the free-market in using them. :?

Still, I welcome the fact that the lads in Edinburgh will now have a choice to buy an E7, or not buy an E7. However I find it amazing that a drivers association actually objects to drivers having a choice.

Clearly they know better than their members !!!

It would appear that you misinterprete the Cabforce objection to the E7. The point made is that the LA have forced the withdrawal of Fairways because they do not comply with new regulations, yet are prepared to accomodate Allied by loosening their conditions of fitness to suit the new vehicle. Does this explain it succintly enough? It is not about denial of choice.
Another point overlooked is that these same vehicles (E7) are currently operating as phc, albeit without the roof sign and partition, so the LA, if they change the regs are going to facilitate the illegal pickups some phc already do.
Dark mutterings in some corners are already talking of the passage of brown envelopes to greasy palms...........

That's ok, but just becuase they stop old bangers being licensed shouldnt mean they then should stop the E7.

As for E7 being used as ph, well that happens in most of the uk. I thought most ph in Edinburgh didnt have any markings. So surely customers will be able to tell the difference.
