I know we have something like 377 ish different boroughs all with differing tariffs.

I would like to find out how many have a fare and a half for vehicles that carry more than four people.

Anyone know?

None that I know of but an interesting point. I think some private hire firms might have an extra charge for additional passengers over the norm?

Aberdeen City started doing this in October.
Aberdeenshire have been doing it for a few years.

Down in this area PH charge meter and a half for over 6.
The proposal is to allow taxis to charge that in the next pay rise.

And do you trust all your colleagues to charge normal rate when less than 6 tourists get on board, or less than 6 slightly pi**ed folks get on board?

If someone is going to the expense of running a multi seater then they should be able to charge more for doing it!!!

This is my thinking as well, as it stands at the moment we can only charge £1 per extra person, of which I do not believe is enough.

As it is the driver has to spend up to £35k to conform with local regs but gets back an extra £1/£3 pound per fare over four people.I just feel that there should be some recognition of the expense/investment that drivers have had to put out to become hackney drivers, and the poor return they are getting.

What I am hoping for is to find out how many LAs allow fare and a half, and then to approach our local LA at least with something to back up a claim for the same.

It is fare and a half in my borough as well. It's a pity the punters don't all understand that it will cost more though. They seem to expect to pay the same amount for 6 passengers or even 8 passengers as they do for 4 passengers.

Easy give them a choice . pay fare and a half or use 2 cabs one with 4 the other with 2 in it.. that would cost them more per head.

But isn't it better, in the long term, to have people using two cabs rather than one? :?
