It looks like our L.A is trying to pass the cost of "Taxi Marshalls" onto the Hackney drivers. Looking at some of the figures sent to me by the L.A, it looks like the cost at the moment is around 165K P.A
or if you like £3,173.00 per week.My recollection of this from a few years ago, is that this was either a police or council idea, nothing that the hackneys requested. I am waiting on a F.O.I request for details, but I am sure that it started off with the police picking up the tab, and one of the Marshalls was putting it about that he was working on behalf of the "Home Office". After a while the police started to complain that their budget would not cover it ( a bit like starting up the Traffic Warden department), like ( sorry we have not got time to issue parking tickets)............so someone else creates a budget and starts up another department...............another job the police have not got to do, or a cost to bare.
So I am thinking are they (the police), once again passing the buck, (in this case a matter of law and order)........creating a we need "Taxi Marshall's" situation, (less work for them)...........and then passing the cost on to others.
A general question to all of you out there - who picks up the tab for the "Taxi Marshalls" in your area?
