regular passengers? like someone who would just phone your mobile and not a firm? i had a old guy four years ago and he used me for 2 years who phoned me every tuesday and Wednesday to take him down the street and bring him back up again about an hour later and gave me a tenner for it, was a very nice gent but then passed away suddenly without notice. he lived alone and had a small family, i attended the funeral and must say it was very quiet, do you have any regular passengers

I think most people do, some ring direct but others use the firms and you meet them that way.

I've taken some people to the same place for nearly 25 years, and when the older ones pass away it's a very sad occasion.

Yes, my mrs has several elderly regulars, steadily dwindling numbers. One was found collapsed on the floor in her house, she lay there 3 days before she was found, but recovered and is now in a care home. A couple have died, others get too ill to go out and are in care homes.

90% of my clients are regulars, the joys of being a small business i guess.

I tend to find that they do not give notice that they intend passing away

the context i was meaning was there was no life threatening illness with him so no one was expecting his passing

Those sudden deaths are a b*gger -no notice or anything - very inconvenient

Joking aside, we do form strong friendships with some of the older regulars...when the calls stop and wait for the obituary in the paper you think to yourself; "Been nice to have seen him off at his funeral"

A Guy, total stranger I spent over an hour giving CPR at the roadside till the ambulance came, he sadly passed away....his partner asked me along to the funeral, I very nearly didn't...but once there the warmth of welcome I had from almost the entire village brought a lump to the throat...my recollection of his last minutes to them gave some a degree of "closure"on that day.

another story of mine, in 1996 we had a regular young man, always visited his girlfrend every few days, a good few times i got the hire and he was a nice chap, anyways he stopped phoning for taxis and we didn't know why, one night around 1:30AM a distress call goes over the radio that another driver is in need of assistance and is location was given, i was quite close so i said i would go to him and it was only a bit away from where i live, i go there pull in in front of his taxi get out and he is silent looking at the trees. i look up and the headlights are shining on him, he had hung himself, the same young gent that stopped phoning, he had trouble with his partner and he couldn't bear it. was a very big shock
