Hi All, I wonder if I could pick your minds for a little moment. I have recently started a business selling / distributing electronic Cigarettes. I was driving along the other day while in a Taxi on Saturday and mentioned to the driver about selling ecigs for a little extra income for himself. At the end of the day, your customers cannot smoke in the car, so why not give them something they can 'smoke' in your car legally and you make a couple of quid for every one sold? Who doesn't want more money for almost no extra effort?? Basically, My plan was to supply the ecigs to cab driver in low volumes, so that they never have to carry stock themselves. I'd offer a 90 day sale or retun option so that if it is a flop, and the driver could not shift the ecigs, then i would simply buy them back at cost price. The passenger would not need selling to, the driver would simply display a sticker on their dashboard or discreetly somewhere visible in their car to show they they have them if the customer would like to buy them. I assume this would be illegal for the driver to sort the transaction while driving, but would there be any legalities behind the drivers selling the products to their customer in general? The products that I distribute are the best on the market. I use them myself and have tried an awful lot of ecigs before I decided which ecigs to sell. Does anyone know if there are any legals blocking this kind of practice in a cab? Thank you all very much for your time. I look forward to your responses. If it transpires that it is a harmless practice and no legalities behind this kind of taxi driver behavior, I would be very interested to hear from anyone that may be interested in looking into my offer. It could be a nice little earner for some of you cabbies. You can email me directly to: dan@gbvapoursupplies.co.uk |

I am pretty sure. Obviously, I'm not going to be selling the big atomisers... Just the simple 2-part, instant Electronic Cigarette. I have 3 stalls where I have been doing blind trials as a little marketing tools to pull some crowds.... Admittedly this was risky for me as it could have back fired if my confidence in my products was biased... Fortunately. I'm not really here to sell to all you guys (although I wouldn't complain at any leads).... I am simply trying to find out some more information for a chap that I recently spoke to around the legalities of this practice. Any advice would be cracking. If anyone knows or has an opinion on this being an additional service to your customers, I would really appreciate it. Many thanks, Dan www.gbvapoursupplies.co.uk |

Wouldn't you need some kind of LA Street Traders/Retailers License to sell goods in a public place? |

Thanks Bloodnock, I'm not sure. Where I normally trade in the UK is street based, but I did ask permission of the land owner (ie, the local council), out of politeness and to ensure they don't kick off about it. I'm figuring that as a driver, with monies being exchanged, that the trade aspect of the practice would be covered. I'm thinking that they may feel the need to add some red tape around the practices in the name of health and safety or something like that. I emailed the local Taxi registration departments over a week ago and haven't heard anything back, hence me posting here. It's so much easier to sell to pubs and clubs as its a pretty open and shut scenario for them. ![]() Thanks for your response! Dan www.gbvapoursupplies.co.uk |
