The public is being asked for its views on proposals to review the maximum level of charges for the hire of taxis or private hire cars fitted with taxi meters operating under licence of Highland Council.
"The council has a statutory duty in terms of Section 17 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 to review its scales for the fares and other taxi related charges every 18 months," a spokesperson explained today.

At the Highland Licensing Committee meeting of June 22, members agreed a draft tariff for public consultation which suggested no change to any of the current tariffs or extras charges.

The proposed draft tariff would take effect from late October.
A full copy of the draft tariff for public consultation can be found here.
Members of the public are invited to submit their comments about the above proposals by July 27.
