Not really too obvious what the damage is from the photo - the leather has become detached from the sole, or wot? :?

But the office clearly unimpressed by the claim, and get the impression from their statement that they're taking the pish out of the claimant here :-o

And there's no real attempt by the firm to address the detail of what might or might not have happened, so who knows?

Of course, police and/or licensing may take a different view...

A passenger who claims a taxi rolled onto his foot is demanding compensation - after alleging one of his £200 Dr Martens boots was damaged. Alixander Ashton has called in Staffordshire Police and Stoke-on-Trent City Council after alleging the taxi rolled onto his foot on Mayne Street, in Hanford.

The complaint has triggered an investigation by Stoke-on-Trent-based Magnum Private Hire. The firm has now cleared its driver of any wrongdoing.

Alixander, aged 33, said: "I was visiting a friend and having a tattoo in Hanford. I had the tattoo and then ordered a taxi to pick me up.

"I was putting my stuff in the back seat of the car when the driver ran over my foot. I don't know how it happened but the car ended up on my foot. I only managed to get my foot out by wiggling my foot out from under the tyre.

"I got to Stoke Station and I could feel my foot swelling and it had split the leather all down the side. I've only had the boots a few months.

"I rang the taxi depot. I told them that a taxi had run over my foot and that it had caused some swelling and ruined my £200 pair of Dr Martens."

Alixander has labelled Magnum's customer service as 'disgusting'. It comes as he is already suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder after a motorbike accident 18 months ago has left him on crutches.

The hotel operations manager added: "I got in touch with the council and they told me to report it to the police because it is a road traffic collision incident and they said I can claim on the insurance. I'm waiting for them to contact me with the insurance details and I've reported it to the police now.

"It has caused some swelling on my foot, but it could have been a lot worse if I wasn't wearing my Dr Martens boots. I just want an apology and compensation. I'm not asking for anything extra, I just want my money back for the cost of the taxi and the cost of the damage caused to my property."

Magnum Private Hire has interviewed the driver at the centre of the row.

Director Waqas Yaqub said: "Autocab/Magnum Private Hire takes every complaint very seriously and we always set our standards very high in terms of customer relationships. Following a complaint received from Mr Ashton, we interviewed the driver in question.

"Mr Ashton was contacted by one of the management team. He did not mention that he was injured although he did mention that he was not happy regarding having to pay the taxi fare. In line with our complaint’s procedure, at that juncture, we advised the customer to file his complaint with the local authority licensing department.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to the customer. However, on this occasion, we do not feel that the driver’s conduct has fallen below the standards that we set within our company. Please relay our regards to Mr Ashton and we hope that we are able to service him again in the nearby future."

StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police for a statement regarding the alleged incident.

1) why did he not shout to driver at the time ?
2) why did he not shout at driver at the time ?
3) You don't ignore a car running over your foot

4) Doc martins are steel toe capped (I believe) so he could have been far worse hurt
