Taxi driver stabbed and cars ploughed into in night of mayhem in Leeds

A taxi driver was stabbed following a night of mayhem that started in Chapeltown and ended in Leeds city centre.

Leeds CID say they are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries. Police received a call at 9.45pm on Friday, January 27, reporting an incident had occurred between Shepherds Lane and Hill Crest View in which a man suffered from stab wound injuries.

He was taken to hospital to receive treatment. When police arrived at the scene, the suspect had fled in the victim's vehicle and headed towards Leeds city centre. The vehicle was then reported to have ploughed into two vehicles close to Leeds Railway Station.

The suspect was seen bouncing on the top of vehicles before being handcuffed on the road by police. One person is reported to have minor injuries.

West Yorkshire Police say a 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is in custody. Enquiries are ongoing.

Det Insp John Graham of Leeds District CID said: "We are carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or who has any information that could assist with the investigation.”
