The t-word is presumably used generically here, because it later says he had 'worked' as a private hire driver. Not that it makes any difference, either way, and astonishing that he got a three-year renewal after the chap with the baseball bat was refused Glasgow taxi driver convicted after brandishing a knife allowed to keep licence https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glas ... r-26109971 Mr Mir was warned over his future conduct by Glasgow's licensing committee but has been awarded a three-year licence. A man convicted after brandishing a knife will be able to drive taxis in Glasgow but has been warned over his future behaviour. Maqsood Mir has been granted a three-year taxi driver’s licence by the city’s licensing committee. Police Scotland had objected to his application as he was convicted of two crimes when he appeared in court in August 2019. Mr Mir was found to have behaved in “a threatening or abusive manner” which would “cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm”. An officer told councillors: “He acted in an aggressive manner, repeatedly shouting and uttered threats of violence while brandishing a knife.” The applicant, while in possession of a knife, also “repeatedly slapped” a family member on the head and body, the officer said. He was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. Mr Mir, who said he had worked as a private hire driver, said he had been taking the knife off his family member. After hearing from the applicant, councillors on the licensing committee decided to grant the licence but warned Mr Mir over his future conduct. He is also required to undergo medical examinations in each year of his licence. |

Quote: An officer told councillors: “He acted in an aggressive manner, repeatedly shouting and uttered threats of violence while brandishing a knife.” Down here that's a minimum of 6 months in custody. |
