This one doesn't look good for the taxi driver, but you never know. Good photos, but they're a bit big for on here, but there's not really much to see apart from the photos, therefore... But a few basic journalism errors, such as the clunky English, '2' instead of 'two', capitalising Police when it's not a formal title, then when it is a formal title they use the long version, plus make, model and trim level of the police car You won't find many press outlets using all capitals in headlines either POLICE CAR INVOLVED IN CRASH WITH TAXI IN NEWPORT TOWN CENTRE https://www.islandecho.co.uk/police-car ... wn-centre/ ![]() Image: Island Echo A Police car has sustained significant damage in a side-on impact involving a taxi in Newport this evening (Thursday). The collision between the marked Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary Ford Focus Active and a VW Passat taxi happened at the junction of St James’ Street and Lugley Street shortly before 18:30. The brand new Police car’s airbags were deployed as a result of the impact but thankfully the uniformed officers, nor the driver of the taxi, have been injured. The road was blocked for a while but has since reopened. Tonight’s incident is the latest in a series of collisions today including crashes at Calbourne, Ryde, Chale, Thorness and on Yarmouth Road near Shalfleet. UPDATE FRIDAY – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary say they are investigating yesterday’s incident to establish the exact circumstances of the collision. It’s said that the 2 Police officers in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and the taxi driver from the other vehicle involved, were taken to St Mary’s Hospital as a precautionary measure. However, they were later released. It has been confirmed that the Police car was not responding on blue lights and sirens at the time. ![]() Image: Island Echo |

Another, er, fender bender These photos are on the Isle of Wight County Press website and I wondered what kind of motor it was - certainly not a vehicle I could name offhand ![]()

But who'd have guessed that the other Isle of Wight news source would include the make and model of the car. Surprised we don't get the colour (And presumably the photo below is from the first crash a couple of weeks ago, and not the latest one involving the taxi.) TAXI CAREERS INTO EAST COWES RAILINGS JUST 2 WEEKS AFTER PREVIOUS CRASH https://www.islandecho.co.uk/taxi-caree ... ous-crash/ ![]() Image: Island Echo A taxi has careered off the carriageway and into railings designed to protect pedestrians on a busy road in East Cowes this afternoon (Monday) – just 2 weeks after a crash in the near enough the exact same spot. Police have been in attendance at the bottom of Victoria Grove, where the road becomes Adelaide Grove, as a result of a local taxi vehicle crashing into the railings. The single vehicle collision happened shortly before 17:20. The Daihatsu Materia has since been recovered. It was on 30th January that a red Vauxhall Zafira was travelling along Adelaide Grove when it headed straight off the road into the same railings, coming to rest with its bonnet in a bush. |

Quite apart from the obvious error in the highlighted section, where else would you read stuff like this in an online newspaper?

Both Professional drivers yes but I'll put my money on the taxi driver getting the blame. |
