Leyland's Avacab taxi firm left with £140k repair bill after 20 vehicles targeted https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire- ... t-26264481 Around 20 vehicles have been damaged - costing around £140,000 ![]() Image: Lancs Live/Lancs Police An investigation as been launched after around £140,000 was caused to vehicles at a taxi firm in Leyland. The incident took place at Avacab, on Bison Lane, in the early hours of Thursday morning (February 16). Police say that around 20 vehicles have been damaged. Officers say the offenders entered the yard and caused significant damage to vehicles. They have launched a CCTV appeal of people they would like to speak to in relation to the incident. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Can you help us to identify the people in these images? We would like to speak to them in connection with an investigation into damage to around 20 vehicles in Leyland which has caused around £140,000 worth of damage "We were called to Avacab on Bison Lane in the early hours of Thursday 16th February to reports offenders had entered the yard and caused significant damage to vehicles. "We appreciate that these images aren’t the best quality, but we are confident that someone may be able to identify the people in them and we would ask for those people to contact us." Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting the log number 0134 of 16th February or email southribblenhpt@lancashire.police.uk. |

Don't know why, and whether it's relevant, but this seems based on a South Ribble Police Facebook post, which doesn't use the t-word, nor the name of the firm. So to anyone reading this, it could be any kind of vehicle: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=24 ... 4254181286 (Actually, it does mention the name of the firm, but not the t-word. Maybe it's a well known business locally, but 'Avacab' doesn't automatically say 'taxi' to me, although presumably it's meant to mean 'Have A Cab'? )

you wouldn't do that on a whim so I reckon either a disgruntled customer seeking revenge or a competitor trying to put them out of business. |

Officers launched a CCTV appeal and asked the public for help in identifying a number of people they wished to speak to. Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested and have since been released on bail. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "You might remember last week, we asked for your help to identify a number of people from CCTV images after criminal damage, costing around £150,000, was caused at a taxi firm in Leyland. "We were called to Avacab on Bison Lane in the early hours of Thursday 16th February. Around 20 vehicles had been damaged. "Just to update you, two 14 year old boys have been arrested and have since been released on bail whilst we investigate further. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal." |
