It doesn't say on the website, but that's presumably a photo of outside the firm's office, taken from Google StreetView...

So shouldn't we also get a photo of the family? 8-[

Bacup mum furious after ‘rude’ taxi driver fat-shamed partner

A mum has shared her anger after a taxi driver from Bacup picked up her three children and told them their dad ‘needs to go on the treadmill'.

The 34-year-old mum, who has asked to remain anonymous, said this isn’t the first time this particular driver from Bacup Star Taxis has been rude about her partner’s weight.

The private hire firm has since apologised for the incident and the driver has been spoken to.

The children, two aged 12 and one aged 13, have autism so use a taxi service to take them to and from school every day.

On Friday (February 24), the taxi driver picked up the children from school which is when he proceeded to make comments about their dad’s weight.

Explaining the incident, the mum said: “One of these drivers who likes to make jokes said to my kids, ‘your dad’s fat isn’t he? He needs to get on the treadmill’ and then said ‘don’t tell your parents I’ve said that’.

“That really annoyed me because they’re autistic and they get bullied a lot.

"We’re trying to drum into them that you can’t pick on people for how they look or if they’re a bit different, so for him to go and say those rude comments about their dad just contradicts what we’re trying to do.

“They got dropped off and they told me what he said straight away. It’s not the first time he’s been rude to my kids, a similar thing happened about a month ago.

“I understand wanting to banter with adults but there’s no need to bring kids into it. He can’t be saying that stuff around kids."

The family moved from Milton Keyes to Bacup six months ago and said they want to settle into the area without any issues, but this situation has been distressing.

She added: “It wouldn’t be so bad if he said it to me but my partner’s due to have an operation for medical problems soon and he has already lost weight, so it’s really thrown his confidence.”

The family complained to the taxi firm and were told the driver would make an apology, however the mum rejected this offer as she “didn’t want him to be anywhere near her kids anymore”.

The firm have agreed to use different drivers to take the children to and from school which she said she appreciated, and praised the rest of the company’s drivers for being “kind and lovely”.

A spokesperson for Bacup Star Taxis said: “I spoke to him and the driver apologised for his comments because he didn’t mean any harm by it.

“He does like to joke around and have a laugh with customers but not everyone is the same so you do have to be careful about what you say especially around kids.

“I’ve spoken to the family about the situation and apologised for the comments made.”
