This has been rehashed by the press, but they've made a slight bollock with it - so this is the orginal Bournemouth Police Facebook source, which features a rare use of the b-word in stuff like this :-o

No problem IDing this pair, I would have thought :D

We are investigating an assault and bilking incident in Bournemouth and are issuing images of two women they would like to identify.

At around 5am on Friday 17 January 2025, a taxi driver picked up two female customers from the town centre and took them to the Moordown area.

When they arrived at the location, the two women asked to be taken to Andover instead. The taxi driver asked for the payment up front, but they refused and ran away.

When confronted by the taxi driver, it is reported that the women assaulted the man and shouted abuse. He did not sustain any serious injuries.

Police Community Support Investigator Craig Evans, of Bournemouth police, said: “We have been continuing to investigate this incident and are now in a position to issue images of two women we would like to identify.

“I would ask anyone who recognises them to please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at http://www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250007651. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.

This is potentially confusing unless you look at the URL (I hadn't) because unless you know Moordown is in Bournemouth then it might be difficult to work out where they were precisely, and what was going on.

And, as someone in the comments point out, they never went anywhere near Andover

So, for what it's worth, it's basically a run within Bournemouth. They then asked to be taken to Andover, more than 50 miles away. When the driver asked for money up front, they scarpered.

And the word 'scammed' in the headline is a bit misleading as well - makes it sound like something other than a simple runner :?

And, of course, by the looks of it there's a fair chance they actually live in Andover, thus may not be so readily identified in the Bournemouth press, but who knows? :?
