Aftab Qureshi was at the taxi rank on Seagate on April 20 this year when he was stopped by police.
The city’s sheriff court heard how officers spoke with Qureshi in his taxi at around 2am after an anonymous report he was under the influence of alcohol.
Fiscal depute Lana Muir said the keys were in the ignition of the car with the engine running and Qureshi was in the driver’s seat.
Qureshi, of Albert Street, pled guilty to being almost three times (65mics/ 22) the legal limit for alcohol.
The 52-year-old was fined a total of £540 by Sheriff Neil Kinnear and disqualified from driving for three years.
