what is it about politicians and illicit sex

A Conservative MP found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy has announced he is resigning from the Commons.

Imran Ahmad Khan, who has represented Wakefield since 2019, said he was appealing against the conviction.

But he added it was "intolerable" for his constituents not to be represented properly while he goes to the courts.

The decision will trigger a by-election for his seat, which had previously been held by Labour for 87 years.

Khan had a majority of 3,358 votes in 2019 in the West Yorkshire seat, which is seen as being part of the Conservatives' Red Wall of former Labour strongholds in the North of England.

Earlier this week, Southwark Crown Court found Khan guilty of groping the teenager at a party in Staffordshire in January 2008.

whats the betting the tories won't hold this one !

If the Tories got “absolutely trounced” what did Labour get in Tiverton?

And what did the illiberal undemocrats get in Halifax?

Is the situation much different from when Boris got a bollocking from the Supreme Court and he lost loads of votes in the house?

A few months later he won an election with a massive majority.

It will all come down to money in the end, do we want to pay minimal tax, or Labour's maximum tax.

Tiverton was definitely a protest vote and Wakefield simply a Voters return to old habits.....but the Tories really must clean up their act and deliver on the Brexit their traditional and first time voters voted for.

but that's one of the issues the Tories are now a high tax party as are labour the low tax option is now the reform uk lot who quite frankly need a higher profile although I am not convinced their proposals on tax are workable

Two years of Covid and it's vast and varied expense, a young generation which see's a 16 hour working week as ideal because of it state benefit advantages, others who just don't want to work full stop, tens of thousands of Sham disability scammers, more state pensioners of which are living and claiming longer and off the back of the young who are working less and then god knows how many hundred of thousands of economic refugees who see the UK as their passport to easy riches, and then comes the state employee's who seek an inflation busting payrise.

There is no way current levels of taxation could ever pay for all that, so to make up the shortfall the government will borrow god knows how many £billions to add to the £trillion of national debt which we already have!

It'll take a bloody clever government to sort that one out and none of the main conenders are up to the task of fixing the impossible...we are all doomed I tell ya!!!

I’ve met Samantha Dixon a few times, as well as leader of the council she was on the licensing committee. She seems to talk a lot of sense and is down to earth. Let’s hope labour HQ don’t corrupt her. :D
