England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole army of commercial and individual institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs. (...) Nationalism without Socialism - without a reorganisation of society on the basis of a broader and more developed form of that common property which underlay the social structure of Ancient Erin - is only national recreancy." (Connolly, Socialism and Nationalism, p25)

In view of what Gary has written already, and in view of the above from over 100 years ago.......I think Gary has a very valid point.

A wise man.

So do I take it from this that you two believe Ireland is still ruled by the English?

In answer to your question "Should Scotland be an Independent country?" There is very little will, in Scotland, for an Independent Scotland.

THE END

Now will someone lock this thread? #-o

There is plenty of will and it's growing.

Loved today's latest expose of NO camp lies. Beats me why anyone believes anything they have to say anymore. They wouldn't know the truth if it kicked them in the balls.

I'm sure that apathy would suit you.

Have you asked the vast majority BTW?

It's 34 years to the day since the rigged Devolution referendum.
You remember, the one where the dead voted No and overruled the will of the living?

Quote:
In Feb 1979 the Daily Express ran an editorial which asked:

"How much of Scotland's economy will be left intact if a Scottish Assembly gets the go-ahead on March 1? Will our coal mines go gaily on? Will Ravenscraig or Linwood thrive? Will Bathgate flourish and Dounreay prosper?”

Prior to the '79 ballot, Scots were promised a ‘better form of devolution’ in return for a No vote.

The NO bullshit sounds the same 3 and a half decades later, doesn't it?
Thatcher was our reward then. What delights will we get for a NO vote this time, I wonder :-k

I think these Islands are ruled by the City of London.
