I suggest you go to the local newspaper and search their archives. But from comments made by the council leader at the Transport Select Committee it ain't going to change, and the move to deregulate/deregulate was clearly a political one. |

The public registers on our council website have a list of people with operators licences, a list of cars with a Hackney plate, a list of cars with a Private Hire plate and a list of licenced drivers. http://www.melton.gov.uk/environment_an ... sters.aspx |

Interesting comparison between Melton Mobray and Milton Keynes, in the latter there seems to be around 15% with English sounding names, whereas the former seems to have 100%! Perhaps that was what Toots was actually refering to! Would be interesting to know how this pans out over the rest of the UK, would love to see the figures for Brighton, please Sussex??. No doubt in urban areas the ethnic figure will be high but in rural ares it would be low. |

No doubt in urban areas the ethnic figure will be high but in rural ares it would be low. In rural areas I think you'll find them high due to the cities having a knowledge and them not being able to pass the knowledge. Round here we've got them from Leeds, Derby, Birmingham, Hull and a few other places. They don't know their way around and several questions have been put to the LO regarding them passing the knowledge? When Derby introduced the Knowledge some years ago Matlock had an increase of Asian drivers from Derby because they couldn't pass the knowledge. |
