we once had a bus driver on the passenger transport committee, no one but me batted an eye lid.

But he didn't decide if more buses should be put on the road, or bus fares, or the colour of the bus, or the standards of bus drivers, or decide on the fitness of other drivers.

I could go on.

I beg your pardon! he did effectively decide fares, subsidy levels, and in effect more buses on the road. and they decide colour of some buses too!

you are just picking on this bloke!

If someone needs to be picked on, then picked on he will be.

Especially if he is a councillor in a restricted area, that has a plate premium to protect, and wants to vote to keep it.

The words 'dodgy blighter' spring to mind.

Firstly: I find this all very tedious. If de-limiting goes ahead where will these EXTRA taxis rank up.?????? We don't have enough rank spaces as it is! Not only because there are already so many taxi's(new & old) but the fact that local domestic drivers ie non taxi drivers, feel that it is their given right to be able to park in any of Stratfords taxi ranks knowing that by the time a warden does decide to do their rounds they can just pull off without fear of reprisals.

Secondly: All new taxis are now wheelchair accessable. With several of the (Big) companies now all being able to offer a wheelchair service. Us independents now all provide this service. So why the need to increasenumbers??????????????

Thankfully the Tories of Stratford upon Avon, are bang on.

And the existing taxi trade is as thick as pig's poo.

Yesterday, Stratford District Council's licensing committee voted unanimously to lift the restriction on the number of Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licenses in a bid to improve the provision of disabled accessible vehicles in the town.

But the decision has angered Stratford Taxi Trade Association. Jim Bryan, of the association, told the meeting that demand for the wheelchair accessible vehicles had been extremely low. He also said that the association believed that no decision should be made until proper consultation had been carried out.

Wheelchair user Elizabeth Dixon, who is also chairman of the South Warwickshire Access Group, said Mr Bryan's comment about there being no demand for the vehicles was a "very poor defence". Moving the recommendation, chairman councillor Richard Adams said: "It's something that we've got to face up to."

The committee's recommendation will now be considered at the next meeting of the council's Executive on Monday, May 10.

The council said to them "go WAV or we de-limit", they said no, the council will now de-limit.

Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Any cchance you can post a link where this info is from

thanks
