I currently have a problem wIth my TX2 which I'm hoping and praying you may be able to help with as no one or garage I've been to so far can help!! My cab currently is idling too fast, and I mean that bad that if I leave it in gear and take my foot off the brake I actually pick up a decent bit of speed!!!! I've had the throttle peddle checked etc and that is all fine. The alternator is brand new and charging at a correct voltage. I ran the cab today (Monday 7th) and the cab ran quite fast all day, it almost feels like it's pulling too much fuel through, but when the headlights are on it slows the engine down and runs ok. I know my EGR valve needs replacing, could this cause the problem? It also seems that when I put the gearbox into neutral or park, once again the engine slows down (and this slows the engine down even without the headlights on). I did have a new gearbox put in last May, could this be a problem with the gearbox at all????? Any sort of help would be an absolute godsend as I've been to a couple of garages and they haven't a clue!!!!! If I have to drive this cab anymore like this I may have to ditch it in the Thames |

Have you been to a garage with the proper diagnostics gear though? They might charge you, but it may pinpoint the fault unlike garages without the equipment. The flashing glow plugs a classic example, about a dozen differing faults seem to start it off, but it may be something as simple as the EGR needing cleaned out. Try Ascotts. |

yeah I've had the main man from LTI look at it with his fancy computer. The egr valve is in need of replacing but he doesn't now why it is idling fast? Any ideas???? |

why didnt the man from Lti reset the tickover via the diag/OBD2 port? |

Not sure why. I think because when he looked at it it wasn't idling too fast so wouldn't have shown up on his screen. Its driving me mad!!! |

I can only suggest C&S motors in Three Colts Lane. 'Scottish' John is very good on the Ford Engine. Failing that 'Framerights' which is a couple of arches up from C&S seems to get the seal of approval from contributers over on the RMT forum. |

It idles better when i either have the headlights on or put it into neutral!!!! |

Does your g/box have an earth strap? If it has, make sure it's in good nick and making a good contact at both ends. If not, try fitting one. |
