Post subject:  TX4 Gearbox and Engine issue advice needed

Hi guys hope everyone’s well, just had a gearbox and engine replaced by Taxi Garage, Cab was smoking (white smoke) from the exhaust with a few oil leaks, oil was gushing out from a few places,Gearbox had no D-R, got engine and box replaced, picked Cab up yday and there’s still white smoke coming from the exhaust, not only that When I put the Cab D or R there’s a delay of about 3-4 seconds then a thud when going into gear, Told the garage about it and he said “oh there’s probably still oil in the system just drive it and it should clear, but it’s smoking to the extent of If I was to drive it I’ll probably get stopped by the police, Told him about the gears going into gear quite harsh with a thud, his reply “oh the gearbox was sitting a while just drive the cab and it should be ok it’ll sort itself out...

Question is, is it still oil in the system that needs clearing its white smoke not black.
Will the gearbox sort it self out,

had to borrow the money to get these things done as my TX2 is coming off the road soon so this was a replacement cab, I knew about the gearbox issue prior to me purchasing which I though I’d replace anyway, Just feel like somethings not right

Any help as always appreciated.

When I first started all those years ago I drove someone else's saloon, think it was a Sierra.

Anway he put a new engine in and I drove it first night out.

The car was running red hot and many times it got near the red zone on the dash.

However as the weeks went on it started to cool down and lasted him years.

Nothing to do with your situation, but thanks for the memory. :D

Update..
Gearbox was replaced by taxi garage, no more white smoke, occasionally black smoke which is expected, garage was understanding and sorted the problem out. Happy days
