got a call the other day from a customer who uses us occasionally wanting a price for a school run which she pays for herself. from her house to the school would normally meter about £9.00. Now I know who currently does this run and how long it takes so I quoted her £12. Later in the day i had a chat with the driver who normally does her to give him the heads up that she is fishing around. The job normally takes about 40 minutes am and 35 minutes pm and he charges her £10 a trip 5 days a week. Spoke to him today and he told me she asked him to match the cheapest quote she got which was .

£65.00 for the week     so that means the driver is doing 40 minutes work using about £3.00 in fuel to take just £3.50 and thats before vehicle costs

At the rate prices are going it just isn't worth being in this trade anymore !!!

Your meter will only click up £9 for a 35 minute job?

FFS.

It would be £11 (ish) down here if the cab didn't move.

it is a wait and return twice a day i.e. driver hangs around up to 20 mins while she takes the child in and then drops her back home or in town
