Not much to see here, except for the usual list of all the 'partners' involved.

But I suppose four 'instant prohibitions' out of 26 vehicles isn't particularly good...

Most interesting is the case in the thread title, which is certainly unusual to read about :-o

But this is the official police Facebook post rather than the press rehashes.

This morning a joint operation was carried out at Portfield School, Haverfordwest by Pembrokeshire County Council's Licencing Inspectors, Pembrokeshire County Council's Transport Management Dept, Nigel the Police Licencing officer along with Haverfordwest Neighbourhood Policing Team.

This operation was put together to respond to complaints made about Safeguarding. A total of 26 vehicles were stopped and Inspected under the Local Government Misc Act 1976.

Four vehicles were given instant prohibitions, due to construction and use faults. One of the vehicles was also found to be operating without a meter installed when it was supposed to have one fitted.

All taxi drivers and the pupil escorts were appropriately licenced and badged, with feedback from the taxi operators being extremely positive and welcomed.

Couple of photos here - seems to be unusually high proportion of women in first photo for this kind of thing - four women to two men, at least of those whose sex is reasonably obvious. (And I'm ignoring the trans angle... :? )

there are UK councils such as Rutland that don't require hackneys to have a meter fitted could this car be licensed by one of them ?

What safeguarding checks relate to a taxi not having a meter whilst undertaking a school contract run?

I suspect that hackney never does any rank work, just bookings.

Again this is PR/spin and they have to big it up to justify the costs.

It's worth reminding councils that they can do these checks without involving the press.
