Do you worry about losing it when people wind you up ? tbh im 6`3" 16 & a half stone ( carrying timber now coz im old ), go to the gym mon/wed/fri ( occasional sun if the wife goes to her mothers) boxed in the royal navy in my teens, kept it up when i left , spar only though, worked the "doors for a few years" so although a old man now, still ok fittish wise, sorry but i just go in to a fooking blind rage when someone winds me up & couldn't care less about the badge/fine/job , ( would obviously regret my actions later though ) how do you hacks manage ? im after a hack but honesty don't know how you do it, i will either end up booting someone to fook or getting booted to fook

Not in the slightest.

Most punters are in the car no more than 10-15 minutes.

Surely most of us can put up with most people for that short a time.

Once they are out and paid up, forget them and move on to the next punter.

Yes been there , been abused to duck and been in conflicting situations where I've decided I'll use self defence but won't strike as I actually like what I do and it puts enough food on the table. Got in a fight once when I started it actually happened on a Sunday at the taxi rank it was 3 on 1 with the main perpretrator having booted the 4 taxis in front wasn't booting mine after putting him on his arse without striking him he came back with his mates swinging at me too as I retreated he got my taxi door in the ribs twice then I escaped. I thought after flooring him I'd be ok I'll have 4 colleagues out to help did they fook sat with there noses in their papers apart from the old ,old school gent must've been in his 70s making his way to support. They walked off like they had won something. The older gent was such a support as for the others pussys. I'm learning to laugh now at wind up merchants I end up feeling so much better. It's funny the reaction you get when someone complains you took a slightly longer route and you reply I'm not sad enough to do that to make more money just give me a fiver .

Once they are in the cab (you picked them up, you saw them from 50yds) you should use a good tone (hi guy's where you off too) to work out if they are going to be trouble, remember they have your money in their pocket, getting it is the objective, a little more (tip) and its job done.

Had a guy get in my cab one night, he punched the window between me and him, most cabbies would have kicked him right out the cab, I never, I said, did that make you feel better and why did you do it, his reply was, cabs with their lights on kept driving past him, it was then that I reminded him I stopped and then asked how's your hand, at the end of the journey I got the fare and a decent tip and another apology, I thought he was going to cry, inside I was thinking greet ya barsteward, yer hand looks like a balloon, my advice is to try and get them onside, if it fails, head straight to the police station but stay calm and keep your rage inside, don't be the loser.

Good luck.

A woman mid-30s got in with 2 little girls, as we pulled away she said to me "are you looking forward to christmas?"

without hesitation one little girl (about 6) said "yes"

Twice in 11 years..... I'm a lover not a fighter but I have my limits. If they run, I let them run. The two that stood there and said words to the effect of "I'm not paying what are you going to do about it?" Got a clump.
