How the Feck can something that Is neither a Taxi or a PH operator be given a Taxi or PH operators licence..Surely it time to get back to basics rather than be dazzelled like the App Happy councillors are being dazzelled, It's like app trendyism has consumed them, even if it will lower incomes, push up driver hours for some and consign others to the dole..who cares..it's super uber trendy at the moment..

you seem to forget that many "traditional" taxi and private hire companies are already using apps. Are you saying that all apps should be banned or just the ones that you don't like?

Nope, the Apps can stay, but It shouldnt be the App owner that gets an Operators licence, Apps should only ever be aids/tools to put clients in in touch with bona fide and licensed operators...the app creator should not be holding a Taxi/PH operator licence as that is not their main line of work, they are simply Information providers, they do not run Taxis or PH's, they can call their drivers Partners if they want, but the fact is they employ nor subcontract work to no one, all they do is redirect enquiries made through themselves to PH driver and operators..and for that they charge handsomely.

An Apps an App and an Taxi/PH is just that...they should never be confused.

May be different if the App was created by a Taxi/PH fleet operator to enhance their existing business. but the likes of UBER does not run a fleet of vehicles.

The danger there is that in two years time people will be saying.."oh, can you remember Delta" as Uber will have usurped them with unintended LA assistance.

Delta do not have 2500 cabs. They may have 2500 owner drivers who carry out their work but they don't own the cabs. They also don't have a "job" with Delta. Delta do not pay them a wage.

On the PH operator (circuit) application form I'm guessing it has a place where those requesting a license have to sign.

Once signed, and the licensed approved, they are a PH operating circuit.

They can call themselves what they dam well like, but they are legally a PH operating circuit.

Which bit is news to you. That Uber have a license in Sefton or that Delta said what they said? According to the guy on Friday Uber have a licence in Sefton. They have an office in Liverpool but the council there are taking so long to issue their licence they went through Sefton. I think the office in Sefton is just for show as the guy said he'll be there 2 hours per day Monday to Friday and the rest of the time he'll be in the Liverpool office. As I've said many times I don't see the need for offices in all locations as they're just going to be empty rooms in buildings somewhere
