How the Feck can something that Is neither a Taxi or a PH operator be given a Taxi or PH operators licence..Surely it time to get back to basics rather than be dazzelled like the App Happy councillors are being dazzelled, It's like app trendyism has consumed them, even if it will lower incomes, push up driver hours for some and consign others to the dole..who cares..it's super uber trendy at the moment..
you seem to forget that many "traditional" taxi and private hire companies are already using apps. Are you saying that all apps should be banned or just the ones that you don't like?
Nope, the Apps can stay, but It shouldnt be the App owner that gets an Operators licence, Apps should only ever be aids/tools to put clients in in touch with bona fide and licensed operators...the app creator should not be holding a Taxi/PH operator licence as that is not their main line of work, they are simply Information providers, they do not run Taxis or PH's, they can call their drivers Partners if they want, but the fact is they employ nor subcontract work to no one, all they do is redirect enquiries made through themselves to PH driver and operators..and for that they charge handsomely.
An Apps an App and an Taxi/PH is just that...they should never be confused.
May be different if the App was created by a Taxi/PH fleet operator to enhance their existing business. but the likes of UBER does not run a fleet of vehicles.
