Deary me flower, you are still not getting it.
Uber's app is like any other app on your phone, it puts the customer in direct contact with the service provider and charges for the service. Every man and his dog is using apps these days and they are becoming more popular with every day that passes. There is only one direction for Uber and that is up. As for companies like City Cabs they are a redundant business model which is soon to become obsolete in their present form because they are no longer economically viable. The days of paying extortionate radio dues months in advance to pay for a committee, office and marketing staff is coming to an end. The old co-operative business model is being replaced with a slick inexpensive flexible and highly profitable technology platform.
Wtf don't you understand about the above?
All Uber has to do is to capture a percentage of the customer transport market to destabilise the whole trade. How much work i.e. phone customers, drivers and owners can City, CRT and ECPH lose before there business model is no longer sustainable?
The answer to their economic survival in the past, has always been to increase radio dues along with fleet size and then discount like mad to buy the work. This is no longer a viable option when going up against a company like Uber who's overheads are minuscule by comparison and their profitability enormous.
Is the penny starting to drop yet Flower?
For City Cabs CRT or ECPH to stay in the game, they will have to operate a similar business model to that of Uber to compete on their level and I don't think they can do it.
The question is, how long will it take for app companies like Uber to move in and takeover a big enough chunk of the customer transport market before they knock the other companies out of the game?
