If you want a chance to enlighten us on a better form of regulation for Edinburgh's HC trade then go on Skull, the platform is all yours, remind me again what the plan is :?:

I put my alternative plan to the status quo up for debate, if its ever rejected publicly i will accept that my peers know better, no lifetime mission from me

So lets see how you or Jasbar would improve the regulation of the Edinburgh taxi trade, c'mon Skull or Jasbar the full script as i have already done mine you owe it to the debate  You know two sides to the story, we have one side as an alternative lets hear "it again".

On you go    Its 48 hours and counting, you know you want to but fear it don't you, i feared it but beared it and put it up for scrutiny didn't i

Your turn 8) Oh and its 2 against 1 (me)

This should be good 8) 8) 8)

Hold the front page will i :?:

Quote:
Oh dear, now let me, think. :-k The London model, oh yes that's right. :!: Quality controls coupled with higher driver and vehicle standards but with no artificial licence plate restriction. Oh and with the same controls applied to the Ph, trade. This means no one being allowed to do, which is, in effect, the same job, on an equal tariff, and with no real qualifications?

Quality controls coupled with higher driver and vehicle standards and with no artificial licence plate restrictions, your words Skull =D>

I don't know why im clapping ffs

Explain Quality controls :?:

Higher driver and vehicle standards, can you really improve this from what it is currently :? Are you talking age of vehicle restriction, no ads, uniformed colour :? Explain what you mean :?:

No licence plate restriction  Ok i get this 8) So you are for wiping out the Ph so that all the probs within the PH are transfered into the HC, as that is what would happen, then you are happy with saturation driving down individual income, an increase in congestion and competition, wiping out the professionalism of our quality service, so where does the quality control come in, your plan puts the trade in to the hands that can afford it, not the individual but the corporate profiteers, its happening in the PH now, can you provide evidence this will not be the case if licence control is lifted, and btw who do you have in mind to set the tariff, whom would act fairly and without discrimination.

My alternative is clear and it works on paper, yours so far is all over the place, i hope your mate will clear up your uncertainty, Skull we need evidence and Gaurantees that your system is workable, maybe sleep on it and come back to the table tomorrow, you know with a fresh mind, hey we might just buy your idea of QUALITY CONTROLS (wtf) COUPLED WITH HIGHER DRIVER STANDARDS AND VEHICLE STANDARDS (already as tight as feck)

Eh let me think, now tell me, Dougie, does passing a test fit for monkeys, really make you a taxi driver? #-o Oh and is this a test designed by taxi drivers for taxi drivers? #-o And that's before we even start talking about driving skills? #-o Oh and how about wheelchair-accessible vehicles that, for all intents and purposes, are unfit for use? #-o And that includes your E7. #-o You muppet. #-o Honestly, the list goes on and on, but you are too stupid to realise it. #-o

Trust me Dougie, this is not a debate of any kind, you're just an idiot. #-o

My sources tell me the law commission were questioned and drawn over the coals by many of our fellow UK citizens.....some even had phd's and titles such as 'professor', advising them of the error of their ways.......my thanks to my Scots brethren.

no I thought I better work today rather than go off on roadtrips.

I understand they were drawn to silence over numerous issues though......perhaps you should check who was at the event?

I'll leave it to someone else to divulge. I'm just curious, in my experience PhD's and titles such as "professor" don't count for shi*. They will say anything they are paid to say. :-|

I see, so basically even if they something you want them to say, nobody should actually believe them, because its what you want them to say.....so if they say something you dont want them to say, you can discount them, because in your experience they just say what people want them to say........I'll go with that, I f*cking hated professor yaffel off bagpuss......the scary tw*t.

No. It depends on how impartial and objective their position is when doing research, asking questions, or providing information. One might say, Whoever pays the fiddler... changes everything. :-|

What is it Mr T sometimes says? Oh yes, something like "there's taxi drivers and those who drive taxis". [-(

And of course there are presumably those who don't drive taxis at all.

Like Mr T in fact, never mind the professors.

I rang HG at the Law Commission earlier this week and during the conversation asked what they were doing in Edinburgh this week.

The reply was that they had been invited to an international 'talking-shop' [my words] about taxis.

My thougts; 'the blind leading the blind' on a learning curve of how things in our trade are done elsewhere.!

Like Professor Oxley? he was paid by the dft a few years ago to research the effects of wheelchair accessible taxis - his findings were contrary to what the DfT wanted so they were suppressed.

The fiddler paid him.

I take it they became Centrals' after the last lot carried the can for Murray's petulance with his then pal coolky. =D>

How much did Murrays cost the company back then

Oh sorry my Lord, this is of and concerning the company.

I'm still pashing myself laughing.

What took the biscuit was when Kinroy turned to Lord Emslie with his impashioned plea, "but they're trying to impoverish my client, My Lord."

What a fecking laugh. What's funnier though is that I doubt the members don't know to this day how much it cost them. But then the quality of the members has to be in the fact that they don't even ask the question.

Quality!
