Uber is neither Taxi/PH, it also needs licenced drivers, the Scotland bill recommends all passenger carrying vehicles and there drivers must be licenced including funeral, wedding and limos etc.
The other thing to consider is, the Two main companies in Edinburgh already have a well established app, 900 vehicles, 2000 drivers, all happy to service customer demand, Uber won't be able to compete, other app companies haven't even bothered to try
It's all pie in the sky and won't happen in Edinburgh

P.s Our trade also used to operate CabShare, it didn't work, another thing, servicing our App customers we get full fare, what driver in there right mind would pay commission on a fare from George Street to the Castle

Dougie, the man in denial.

Aye right enough Dougie, if Rideshare works in London why should it work in Edinburgh?
Oh and Dougie, they might be paying a commission on each job but they are not paying radio dues. And in the quiet times, like after the festive season you are not paying to sit around with your thumb up your ass.
What is the point in paying a committee or company owner, if you can cut these bloodsuckers out of the loop by having an app on your phone?
I think this app will initially be a slow burn depending on the free advertising it gets from the Edinburgh Cab Trade [edited by admin]*ing themselves but it's definitely the way forward.
