[quote="cabbyman"]When the f*ck are you lot going to get it?????
In our borough, we have some 250 H and only 30-ish P; A ratio of over 8:1. One of the protagonists against deregulation on here is in a city where regulation has permitted the growth of what is probably one of the largest PHV companies in the country.
That will be me, and I'm afraid you are wrong on that, it became what it was for a number of reasons, mainly they the Leng boys invested in technology while everyone else sat on their backsides counting Mondays exce's money, they also have 3 PH plate barons currently operating and have had 5 over the years licensing cars they never drive, so in effect firms within a firm, as the UK born driver filter out at least one baron decided to advertise in Eastern Europe for drivers to fill his empty seats, adding to the immigration problems, now before this get me accused of racism I don't care who drives out there with me, but I do care if they are theiving ***ts, one Kurd nearly got his head kicked in yesterday (not by me I might add) sitting on a rank refusing ppl because the job wasn't good enough, added to quoting £17 for a £5 journey, and then telling the guys it's his car and he'll do whatever jobs he feels like, everyday I hear a story about Indian's quoting £40 to Waterlooville and wanting it upfront so they don't have to fire the meter, and not to be outdone we now have inherited a UK born driver who also thinks £25 to Mother Kelly's is a fair quote, and he came right close a few days ago to being seen to, anyway back to Aqua, it's now become such a monster with no real control going on, customers complain about staff attitude, not being picked up, and almost every non o/d car looks like it's been rammed, a right sorry state infact, and Fareham isn't working deregulated is it, I see you all over ranking outside Chicago Rock, there's way too many of you for a small area like Fareham, especially as you have to effectively share with Gosport's cabs as well, Sussex is right about standards, but you won't get good standards if it becomes open to all and a shrinking customer base is being raced after all night, personally I think the job is finished, between the nightclubs shoving the Navy out over here and the purse rapists before long ppl will walk everywhere or car share with a designated driver, there's more regulation now that there ever was, and there's more problems now, because something that wasn't broken got repaired by ppl who know sod all about cab driving, to sum up, the fact of the growth of Aqua proves that if you can get licensed you will and ppl will put cars on when there's no demand for them, and most of them will never hold the wheel of the cars they own, this town worked better when ppl had a choice of firms, both for drivers and customers, all the personal service is gone, and so are the guy's that used to work for the firms, replaced by opportunist who don't care about anything other than how much they can rook ppl for, it even happens to me, the trip I take goes £4.50, but depending on who picks me up it can go as high as £6, as I give them more than £6 the honest guy ends up £2 better off than the thief.
I've got a message for firm owners anyway, you're almost finished, as they swept up the firms into one big one, that call centre firm in Coventry? will eventually finish the lot off, and why? 10p a job instead of £120 pw, tata.
