Isn't the locking of threads a tad childish?

We're all big boys here, we take it, we give it.

And if the material is deemed offensive by the censor, why is it allowed to remain on the forum?

The whole thread locking gig is just illogical.

Maybe because it's the same old .... all the time, and it gets very tedious.

To be honest I can see the whole Scottish section being binned, and if that doesn't work the whole site.

You might find it fun, but others don't.

Alex

Bit harsh on the rest of us.

If I'm being honest, I think TDO has run its course as nothing in the taxi trade really changes, and I do believe it comes down to the quality of individual driving a taxi. :-|

In other words, a rat race is for rats. :-|

If I were you Alex, I'd bin the lot. :-|

Yeah, but it's like the telly. You don't like it you can switch off. No one's being forced here.

And while much of it may be borlocks, it is to some degree entertaing.

Like A&T telling us that competition is healthy, so long as he doesn't have to compete.

Lassez faire comes to mind.

The City Cabs committee have turned City Cabs drivers from Primark Mannequins in to Savile Row Models.

Not only have the committee landed the most lucrative contract in Edinburgh's Cab Trade history, they have introduced an appearance fitting of meeting royalty. City Cabs are showing that they are the "model" hackney taxi company with a truly professional appearance and attitude towards the customers.

It's looking like City Cabs will prove they are worth the two year extension and that is a great goal to work towards for all concerned. Keep up the good work.

That'll be another nice little earner for the dudster and tree Mcvee then?

So which of the hapless duo are you KS?

What I find is that over the last 17 years taxis rose from 1000 to 1300 (in the graph shown) Around 25% rough figures

Ph in that same period has went from around 700 to a little over 800. Around 15% growth over same period. One of jasbars arguments for derestriction is that pPH have been allowed to grow to black cab numbers unrestricted. Well figures show ph have grown less in that period than restricted black cab licences.

Except PH has risen in that period to over 1000 and has fallen back. Recession lifts and they come back immediately. They will claim any increase in business. That's market forces. And if licences weren't restricted, and people could leave and come back when business picks up again, then you would be having to compete with fewer blacks in these difficult times.

RESTRICTION ENSURES THAT RANKS ARE STAPPIT FU' AND THE STREETS ARE GLOWING WITH YELLOW BEGGING LIGHTS.

It's bad enough that you know Brussel sprout, it's worse that your brain doesn't have the processing power to understand what's happening in your own trade.

There was no pride in being a plantation slave. There's no pride in being a cabbniggr. And just as it is generally held that only real scumbags crowed about the plight of plantation slaves, well that says all we need to know about those who crow about cabbniggrs.

But then, there are very few "nice" people left in our trade, which is rife with self interest and disappearing customers.

Your triumph is the ease with which you tell us with every word that spews from your twisted mind how big a scumbag you know you are.

Do the sums James, 4 years x rental at say £11k per anum. Why not bite the bullet instead of the pillow and buy into the world of all us pretendy wee businessmen?

What, and be an arselicking, selfish, scumbag like you Ian. Despised by everyone you've ever contaminated with your presence and now reduced to being just another bum boy.

Sorry there has to be some dignity in doing the job. Like the other 2000 serfs in the trade I'll just wait by the riverside until the bodies of our enemies com floating past. Master Sun was indeed wise.

You on the other hand, well you'll just have to get used to the concept that some have real standards and won't stoop to the lowest common denominator.

"At present there are 841 private hire vehicles across the city. The market is thriving and numbers have continued to grow in recent years. Since 2009 the number of private hire vehicles has increased by 3.2% compared to an increase of 3.9% of taxis. At the height of the recession the number of private hire vehicles increased in some authorities as individuals who had perhaps been made redundant sought other means of income. This doesn’t seem to have been the case in Edinburgh. The Civic Government Act does not permit the authority to numerically limit the number of private hire vehicles thereby allowing the market to dictate the appropriate level. Discussion with the private hire association indicated that there were no issues of availability for private hire vehicles. It was also suggested that there should be an approved list of vehicles that are suitable for licensing as private hire vehicles."

I mustn't be well as I fully agree with Jasbar.

Alex is the problem external factors or other forum users like gusmac making complaints all the time??

Some people are far too easily offended.

Could you enlighten me as to who you keep referring to as Ian?

The problem is those whose names are on the deeds, so to speak, can't just switch off.

I would be as happy as Larry if it was just banter, but some of the stuff is highly personal.

Naming people as doing this that and the other might seem fun, it's more than likely true, but admin can't take the risk that it isn't.

I think everyone should just think for more than a millisecond before they press the submit button, but please no real names, and no homophobic slurs.

Alex
