The title in the thread may not be the most appropriate idiom, considering the weather, but how good has it been out there lately !. I'm not just talking about the first week of the Fringe, although thats been particularly good, (rain, rain, rain), I'm talking about the last couple of months !.
Over the last 2/3 years it's been tough for everyone, (Not just Taxi drivers), so it's nice to get a wee run of it for a change. Taking the night off, recharging the batteries, (wee tipple), and looking forward to ANOTHER busy Weekend.
ps. Driving a Taxi in Edinburgh, during the Festival, picking up all these weird and wonderful people, from all over the World. it's pretty good eh !.

Never had any beef wae' you before Ali but I don't "get" the posting of the link to Gumtree. F.Y.I. the Ad has been taken off, should've happened weeks ago, and yes it was me. Things have worked out very nicely, thank you. But you're hardly going to get nominated for Investigator of the year for that wee gem, are you ?. My name is no secret on this site and my name, tel no, and where I live was also posted on Gumtree !. What I choose to do, or not to do, is my business, is it not ?. It disnae', nor will it ever, change my opinion on deristriction being bad for the Taxi Trade in Edinburgh. Unlike you though. Mr ([edited by admin] knows how many Plates yev' had) Turnbill I paid a lot of money to operate my Taxi. I aint no Carpetbaggin' scumbag like you !.

Here's something for you to consider: "Boasting", has been the down fall of bigger Crooks than you. Now, I've not got a clue as to how you obtained as many Plates as you have. Maybe you were just in the right pace at the right time, exploiting a loophole, or maybe, as has been suggeted by others, you were getting a wee helping hand from someone on the "Inside". If it's the latter, you and possibly others might still find themselves in a wee bit of soapy bubble. The passage of time didnae' stop M.P.s, Journalists, and Senior Coppers getting "Found oot". So, you keep up yer' "Boasting" mate but it might just cost you dearly. ps. You wouldnae' like the Jail pal, honest ye' wouldnae'. Funnily enough some o' the guys I wis' brought up wae' run these places now. But you being a top Investigator, you'll know that, eh...

and why would you have a problem with me now. :?:

as you say it was already in the public domain, and you had already declared who you were(perhaps one of the admiral qualities of both yourself and dougie),revealing those details was not the intention of my post as it serves no purpose.

i merely found it a bit hypocritical that you were selling considering your stance on the subject.

as for the rest of this nonsense about inside help, well the rumor was started by me,as a wind up.
it was knowledge of the system and the application of right time right place that got me the last 2 plates
the first one i had to into court for representing myself with a lot of help from an esteemed member of tdo.

but heho you want to believe otherwise thats your prerogative

but you'll get yourself classed as an idiot like dougie, which your clearly not or you wouldn't be selling up.

no one yet but i have an application in and as they have no reason for refusal as there clearly is demand being 1295 plates instead of 1296 as suggested by halcrow in the sud of 2009 it should be in the bag.
time will tell

Ali, explain how someone who buys in or sells up but still believes restriction is a good thing for the Trade is being hypocritical ?.
People who get sommit for nowt', sell it,and then want derestriction, they're hypocrites. Or people who are on record as being supportive of restriction,
then change their tune cos' they fall out wae company's, they're hypocrites.
If I ever did decide to sell up, I'd still want restriction, simply because the alternative wouldn't be good for anyone, owners or drivers.

its clear to me that if a supporter of a restricted trade sells up.
its because its crap clearly the system of restriction that you support doesn't work hence time to get out.

maybe hypocritical isn't the right word perhaps blinkered sums it up best or worried

if the trade derestricts tomorrow it wouldn't bother me a jot.well past caring. i doubt it would make any difference to takings, in fact its probably the best time to do it even if only for a short period.
my reasons for doing what i do are well documented on here.
besides the law governing taxi's says you cant buy/sell licenses.
and the council had/has a closed waiting list.
and people that buy in are in fact jumping the queue in so far as many long term taxi drivers are denied the right to operate their own taxi unless they want to get into serious debt for the right to pretend you own a plate

buying a plate(incorporation) is nothing more than giving someone a bung to get past a Queue, its the council rubber stamping black marketeering and you think its ok

btw ive always wanted de restriction ever since the council told me that although i would have the required points to go to the top of the list, that the list was closed therefore it was irrelevant whether i met their criteria.
the system has never been fair and probably never will be.

Am I, "worried" about decisions taken having a detremental effect on my future earnings ?. Aye, I'll give you that Ali. Do I think the current system perfect ?, nope. But neither do i think that people like me, who had nothing to do with setting up of the current system, be totally disregarded. Now, if derestiction happened tomorrow, then of course I think people who have "Bought in" would lose out. But I genuinely believe everyone else would too.

You were told you would have been at the top of the list, with the required points. lol

When did you pass your brief Ali?

Tell the truth!

1994 why
and i was told this in 2000- 2003 somewhere about that time ?

that is the truth why dont you ask kevin young after we were told this
myself scott baillie ,kev young and billy conroy applied to the council and i think we were coned by our then solicitor fiona munday who did a deal with the council and we got bumped.
then in 2004-2005 a larger group of us got together 3maxblack and took the council to court again
i eventually got one in 2007 as did salteri and a few others .sold it in 2008
reapplied and got 2 more in 2009 :D
sold one in 2010 i now have one plate with one in the oven.

the earlier dates may not be bang on as it was a few years ago

gonna tell me where its wrong :?: :?:

what makes you think you would lose out if they derestricted.

if youve had it 3 years thats around £36 k you have saved yourself in rental.
probably the same amount as you paid for it give or take
so how do you lose :?:

and the council knows this so why do you think they have this in their policy. :?:
