Cab driver is a poor advert for his tradeWHAT sort of person forces a mum and her sick child to stop and pay a £90 charge before taking them on to hospital?
Toddler Destiny Onyeizu had been sick on his mum's clothes as they travelled in a taxi to Bristol Children's Hospital.
The driver had no way of knowing how seriously ill Destiny was.
His condition could have been a matter of life or death.
And yet he stopped and delayed the journey by half an hour while Destiny's mum waited for someone to bring her the money he demanded.
He should have simply kept on driving and made sure Destiny and his mum got to hospital as quickly as possible.
He should have told Destiny's mum not to worry about the fare let alone demand a ludicrously high bill for what amounted to a few sprays of air freshener.
Had he behaved like that she would have had only praise for him.
As it is she will now always see all taxi drivers in a different light.
This driver has done nothing but bring shame upon his trade.
He was not dealing with a drunken lout, just a little boy who was ill and a desperate mum in need of help and compassion.
