Drunk woman ripped off taxi door in Cleethorpes last night AN intoxicated woman in Cleethorpes pulled off a taxi door after an argument last night.
The woman ripped the sliding door off its hinges on a seven seater taxi in the Market Place at around 2.30pm.
The owner of the taxi rank, Country Cabs, said it caused a scene with people filming and taking pictures.
Owner of the rank, Stuart Phillips, said: "The woman has just been asked to pay for damages of up to £600.
"And even though the police attended we didn't want her to be arrested.
"These things happen and it is not a very safe job being a taxi driver.
"As the van slowly drove off, the woman was pulling on the door the opposite direction and it just crumpled and fell off.
"She was fuelled up with alcohol and was shocked what she had done."
Stuart said everyone was cheering and described it as a "circus".
He added: "There is quite a lot of damage and it will need respraying.
"It's not good because it means another taxi driver is off the road not earning a living."
The taxi driver drove to the rank with the door inside it and between them they managed to get the door back on.
The police were not available to comment at the time.
