Carlisle deregulated with a mixed fleet......then stopped issuing saloon licenses...but will still issue to a WAV.

Newcastle deregulated with WAV only, then re-regulated.

What's the age limit on a WAV at first licence & thereafter & does Carlisle have an airport?

Derbyshire Dales.

Also a number of councils have stop issuing plates, who have mixed fleets. North Lincs, Reading, Basildon and Cardiff are four that spring to mind.

i think the main question is will one survey be legal under scots law, dundee was restricted for many years ,the surveys were based on vehicle numbers virtually all saloons, now many cabs are wavs including myself ,i do maybe 6 wheelchair jobs a month, the amount of cabs the wheelchair users need has already been exceeded, but can this be counted by an individual standing on a rank counting how long a saloon cab sits? add to that many of youngys taxicard customers are complaining of waiting times,if 2 surveys are required the cost will be quite subsatantial,if both the dta and the wheelcair assoc get together and maybe they could get somewhere,

Winchester only issue H/C on wavs, deregulated with strict quality control.
6 year limit on saloon H/C's.
Non Hackney spec 10 year limit, Hackney spec (any model) no limit with more inspections after seven years (Incentive to keep a well maintained vehicle)..... :-|
79 wavs 49 saloons.... 236 PH
LO here admits there should only be 1 H/C cab per 1000 poulation, by his estimate 50 in total..... Council here know it's a good cash cow  eusasmiles.zip

If this makes any sense Newcastle had 191 any colour saloons then they deregulated and any new license had to be on a wheelchair accesible vehicle london cab/metro cab at the time.
They then reregulated when the number of hackneys reached 339 which of course meant we had a mixed fleet and they were trying to endorse a law that all saloon hacks had to change over to wavs witin a period of 5 years i think it was at the time.
A lot of the diehards kept their old motors running through thick and thin and as far as i remember were going to take the council to court as all the saloon proprieters chipped in with funds.
All i know now is that the council suddenly decided to let the saloon hacks stay on as long as they were sprayed black and any replacement vehicle had to be black.
They then deregulated again and let the plates from 191 to 339 which were wavs be allowed to replace their vehicles with saloons and then left the door open till the numbers reached approx 780 hacks.
Eventually the city reached saturation point through the week with cabs parked all over and eventually the message must have sunk in with the council that the time had come to call it a day!!!and regulate the numbers once more

Seems simple to me, and by my reckoning the % of WAV will be higher than most folks think.

A lot of places will have lots of taxi plates issued.

I personally think it'll be well over 50%......perhaps 75%....positive discrimination I reckon.
