I've driven autos for over 30 years; never liked the mixing stick, feels like making a cake.

If E7 did an auto I still wouldn't buy one, because 'La boîte de vitesse automatique' are cucking frap!

i love autos, had big rover 3 ltrs, carltons, a corsair even, never had a slushbox go bad on me, but the new semi/paddleshift-autos have way to much techno-gummins for my peace of mind

If you know where to take an autobox when it goes wrong & get the job done properly, it's not a problem.

Have you ever used VMTP in Norton Canes, Cannock?

They're the best in the business.

I am thinking of getting a Mercedes Eurocab CD111 or CD115 triptronic, not the KPM London spec, but the one for the provinces; ex Bernard Mansell or Cab Direct.

I think they are lovely motors, and if I was buying one I would be more interested in the length of a proper warranty than just the price.

Naaahhh.

You can't beat VMTP.

The have a re-manufacturing factory in Hednesford & when I first went there about 20 years ago, they had an order from a Yorkshire Police force for 800 (eight hundred) autoboxes.

They do work on autoboxes for Derbyshire buses (up & down dale, so autos are essential) & are probably the best, certainly in the Midlands & possibly in the country.

There current repair workshop has 11 ramps, all doing autoboxes; that's all they do.

They re-manufacture all autoboxes & give a proper no-nonesense one year warranty, with a free box service after 1,000 miles.

Hi, I've been running a 111 for 3 years and although it has been basically a good and reliable. The build quality is a massive dissapointment as is the local delership. Fuel economy is 26mpg regardless to what I'm doing and it has ongoing rust issues wich started at 4 days old.

I was speaking to a senior Merc employee.. he was a bit tanked and speaking freely. When I said to him that I wished I'd got the auto box instead, he laughed and told me they're crap..

So... I'm just ordering the VW Shuttle instead.
