this evening late on, this street begger/druggy in a wheelchair, had no pusher to push him, so he wheeled himself up to the nearest rank, 5 cabs and one WA sat on the rank, all out of cabs talking

starts giving the drivers some gob, you have to take me i know the law

but the money he pays with is begging/drug money and you get lots of grief and abuse from him

every driver told him to pee off, he got on his mobile and rang PH

do we really have to take him???????????????

The only defence you have is reasonable excuse.

What about on safety grounds ? Is he likely to become violent or refuse to be correctly secured ?

Just say he smelt like a pi** hole and you didn't want to touch him or his chair.

Equal rights includes the right to be refused on the same grounds as anyone else.

Forget the disabled bit - and the drug bit - and the begging bit - the bottom line is that you are not there to be abused verbally or otherwise.

You would not take it from anyone else and being disabled is no different, ask any decent disabled person and they would tell you the same.

Whatever the reason, under current legislation it has to be reasonable.
