Taxi Driver Online

For those who have never seen any of the Btec/NVQ material, here is a PowerPoint presentation of just a very small part of the Level 2 Btec/NVQ in Transporting Passengers by Taxi and Private Hire; Unit 1, Customer Service for Passenger Transport.

My favourite in this unit is on page 44 (numbered bottom right of page), where you have to choose which you want to be, or to act out. The choices are The Owl, The Fox, The Teddy Bear, The Shark or The Turtle. Intrigued? Then click on the link!!!

I never knew that a loss of custom effected my income.

As for clean socks and trimmed nails.

I got as far as a turtle or an owl and that's when the delete click came into action.

Its A degree in Commonsense.........now if only the MPs could pass a similar Qualification in dealing with the electorate.

If TDO have, or can get hold of the full Btec/NVQ, then it would be a service to the members on this forum.

I'm sure that after reading this nonsense many might draw the conclusion that it is an insult to ones intelligence and totally irrelevant. I've always been of the opinion that a licensing authority should set their testing standards and the rest is up to the applicant.

Whoever wrote this particular passage wants their backside kicking because it is factually incorrect.

"For the taxi driver who is plying for hire there is a legal obligation to pick up passengers who have hailed".

We all know there is no legal obligation to pick up passengers who hail in the street so perhaps the person who wrote this rubbish needs to be retrained and if any trainer goes along with this then they also need to be retrained.

There isn't a great deal to say about this rubbish other than the fact that it appears to be nothing more than an induction course for "employed" company drivers. It bears no resemblance to the realities experienced by self employed cab drivers on a daily basis.

It certainly wouldn't have escaped your attention that 99% of the document concentrates on those persons working a radio agency but all this unit does is remind everyone of the basic principles of cleanliness and good manners. You can't teach people cleanliness, they either desire to be clean or they don't. Those who don't will more than likely be set in their ways and no amount of cajoling is likely to alter that fact.

I think this document is saying that cab drivers should be a cut above the passengers they carry, especially in their dress code. Does this mean they should refuse to carry anyone who isn't wearing a tie or shiny shoes or great them with a friendly smile?
