Should drivers have to pay to download cctv images from their own in car council approved tamper proof equipment in order for the police to act on a crime and how much should they pay, if anything?

Regards

I think tamper proof CCTV should be downloaded, if need be, FOC by the installer.

I think the police should also charge zilch in relation to a crime report, in the same way they wouldn't charge for checking a crime site for fingerprints.

Naturally most of us would sing from the same hymn book on this issue so you can imagine how surprised I was when I read a Bournemouth article from 2005 where the police refused to act on a crime unless the taxi driver paid five pounds to an approved security source to download the images.

I've always been of the opinion that having control over your own CCTV equipment is the best policy but I never thought I would come across this?
