On my new E7 if I have my indicator on as I pull up then only the door on the same side as my indication will open, this obviously stops people getting out into traffic.

What a cracking good safety feature, as long as it's not a wind-up!

Its not a wind up

Autolock™ indicators also enable you to prevent your passengers exiting into traffic from the wrong side of the vehicle.

Take a look here http://www.cabdirect.com/vehicles/new_e7/smoother_safer/ at the bottom of the page.

My first purpose built car had locking doors but passengers are not used to that and used to break the door handles trying to open them before i had released them so i now do NOT have them fitted

it is almost impossible trying to stop someone exiting the wrong side but a check in the mirrors and a verbal warning is usually effective the newspaper however doesn't give much detail so it is pure specualtion as to which side he exited and i do not think that vehicle design makes much difference people can just as easily throw open a saloon car door without looking

At the end of the day you cannot stop other people making mistakes only be as vigilant as you can

I think that's standard on many of the conversions.

But you mustn't put the hazards on as neither door will then open.
