yesterday i picked up two lads who wanted to go to a travel lodge outside town, after getting the right one, there are 2 one each side of a fast unlit dual carriage way

all exits crossing have been closed by the Highway Agency due to many people being killed either in vehicles, or crossing the carriage way on foot to gain access to other services the other side

i explained to the 2 lads that it would be a round trip of around 20 quid plus or so

they said the last driver took them for 13 quid, and did 6 miles for free

i told them if your going with me its full meter fare

we got to the service area on the left, they said just drop us here, 13 quid, and we will leg it across the unlit dual carriage way, clearway, and walk the mile or so [peeing with rain]

i explained that i am going to stop in the garage forecourt right under a camera, they paid up and got out

now what would have happened if they both got knocked down and killed crossing the dual carriage way , would the onus be on me, would i be brought into it ???

Why should it..
you cant control there lives, you drive a cab, pick up and drop off where told. Every person over 18 must take charge of there own actions.

Did you then have to drive the extra 6 miles to get back on the otherside to go back to town

no i just dropped them at the services on the left of the carriage way and went back to town over the loop to the right

You can do no-more than tell them how dangerous it is etc etc.

If you didn't allow them to get out when they wanted too you could be up for kidnapping.

Wouldn't a "keep off the roof" sign be an admission that the roof was dangerous the same as a "beware of the dog" sign is an admission that you have a dangerous dog?

The dog is presumably not dangerous to the owner, just as the roof is not dangerous if you leave it alone.

But mess with the dog or the roof, & they are both dangerous.

Yes but in this day and age when if someone gets bitten by your dog and you get taken to court, if you have a beware of the dog sign on your gate it is taken as an admission of guilt.
